“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.” Ps. 34:7
I talked to my parents today. They called me on their cell phone from the small village on the shores of Lake Titicaca which was once our home. Even as they approach their 8th decade of life, the calling to go back to their homeland has not diminished for them.
Nothing is as it was, they told me. Very people who knew them are still alive. My Dad has gone back to build the church – the body of Christ – in what is a dark place.
Each time he goes back, there are less and less people interested in the things of God. Jesus said, wide is the road that leads to death. He was of course talking about spiritual death.
As a young man, my Dad had a dream of a hand stretched out on the horizon above Lake Titicaca — the hand was nail-pierced. He knew it was the hand of Jesus telling him to turn from that wide road and follow Him.
He made that choice. Looking back we can see how the angel of the LORD has encamped around our family. Even when they tried to poison him, beat him or when the bullets were shot in the direction of our house, God kept us safe.
Yes, it’s true.
If God be with us, who can be against us?
Our God is greater!
Amen! So encouraging.
