#FMF convenience
Is following Jesus convenient for you?
Do His plans for your life match up with what’s convenient for you? It’s been more than 25 years since I began walking with the Lord Jesus and now I know that I know it’s not convenient to follow Him.
But I would not have it any other way.
My life got turned upside down in many ways, when I made the choice to follow Him with all my heart. The choice has taken me all over the world. I’m currently living in Central Europe.
Yes, there’s been hardship, trials that seemed too much to bear, heart-breaking moments along the journey but my God is faithful. In the midst of these, I’ve experienced joy inexplicable and a love so deep, words can’t describe it.
“Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean, but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox.” Pr. 14:4
No, it hasn’t been a clean life but rather a messy one. And I guess that’s why I’m reminded of this verse in Proverbs. I could choose an easier, safer life but then I would miss out on the blessings — the abundant crops — that come from walking with Jesus.
One of the books that influenced me deeply in my journey was Making Jesus Lord {affiliate link} by Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth With a Mission. After reading it, I knew I simply couldn’t stay in my convenient life in America.
I’m sharing today with the Five Minute Friday community where we write for five minutes on a word prompt. My posts always seem to take more time.
It’s definitely not always convenient to follow Jesus, but it’s worth it! I like how that Proverb puts it – I hadn’t noticed that one before!
Definitely not convenient but am learning (relearning???) that nothing worthy is.
great post!
Yeah. not convenient. But worth it.
