“Being confident of this that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” Phil. 1:6
It’s Friday morning and the word prompt for the FMF weekly link-up is confident. I sigh and think what could I possible write about being confident?
It’s been a season, when I’ve felt far from being a confident parent and even a confident adult. A mother’s heart always aches when one of her offsprings is hurting. And that’s where this word prompt finds me.
I think of all that I could have done to make things better and even as I go down that lane, I S.T.O.P.
No.
Regret will never make things any better for anyone — especially the one who hurting.
I try to shift my mind to the Scriptures I’ve been meditating on — the ones that tell me who I am in Christ. It’s in times like these when these truths — when the Word of God must come alive. These are the days when I need them most.
As I drive the kids down the road that cuts through the fields, I think of confident and wish I could feel confident and upbeat but my heart is heavy. And silently as we make our way in the early morning fog, the Word comes to me.
“Being confident of this very thing …
Yes, that’s right.
“Being confident of this … that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” Phil. 1:6
God is not done with me yet. Yes, I’ve made mistakes and continue to make them, but the confidence is not in me. It’s not dependent on me but on God. I did not begin the good work but God did. He promises to complete what He began in me. And not only me, but my loved one who is hurting. The good work He is doing will carry on until the day of Christ Jesus.
As the sun rises, the fog lifts and so does my spirit. He is a faithful Father. While it may be hard to see on days like these, I can be confident of this truth:
He who began a good work in me, in my child, will complete it.
Thank you, Father.
In Christ, I am confident.
