One of the ways I draw closer to God is through journaling. Recently I discovered Immanuel journaling where I write out my gratitude to my Heavenly Father and wait to hear what He says in return.

Its been a life-giving discipline that invites me to do what the Psalmist knew all along.

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” Ps. 100:4

We no longer have to wait outside the gate— we can enter in His presence — into the inner most courts through praise and thanksgiving.

‘Thank you Father for my new job as a cashier; thank you all the beautiful faces that came through with their carts of food. Thank for the kind trainer who was patient with me.’

His Response
‘You’re welcome my child. I know you were afraid of how you might fit in and do the job you were hired for. You did awesome. You smiled at your customers. I loved that. Keep smiling at them as it were me smiling at them.’
