The moments that shape our heart

Day 26 — {FMF} — moment

Some moments are etched in your soul for a lifetime.

My friends might say that I often dwell on the negative and sad side of life, and so today, I want to break out from that.

Here are some of the happiest moments of my life:

— Dancing carefree on the hillside in the Andes Mountains and my Grandma watching me with joy. I loved dancing as a child and deep down inside I still do.

— Opening my eyes in the airplane minutes before we landed in Wash. D.C. for the first time. I looked over and saw my sister praying silently — her tiny lips moving. All we saw were the white fluffy clouds. I knew she was praying and I had such a deep sense of peace.

— The overwhelming sense of love that filled my heart when I cried out to God one cold December day as a junior in college. I felt such warmth and peace and I knew I was loved and forgiven.

— Walking down the aisle with my father and realizing that God had answered my prayer in such an amazing way. The man I loved was standing on the platform waiting for me and he had tears in his eyes.

— The moment I saw my first born and my husband burst into tears as he held her tiny little body. She came out with dark curly hair. Her cry was the most beautiful sound I’d ever heard. And it was the same with my other two — the joy that comes after the pain of labor trumps it all.

— The sweetest words I’ve heard as a mama are, “I’m sorry, Mom” — which is then followed by a heart-felt hug.

Yes, these are my happy moments — and looking over them, I see they are all about moments when I’ve felt loved or loved someone.

How about you friend, what are the moments that’ve shaped your heart?

This is lovely, and so well-written…and the insight to see that the sweetest words are a heartfelt apology…awesome.
